Is "numerancy" in common use in the UK? To me it sounds like a course taught at Hogwarts.

Sorry typo. Maybe it wil appear in one of the books soon though. I did mean numeracy. Was dashing off to the dentist and didn't read before posting.

I wasn't actually making fun of the typo. I would still think that "numeracy" (I know, it's parallel to "literacy" which IS used) sounds like a Hogwarts class.

Is numeracy used?

I saw some examples of using numerancy skills and using numerate skills.

Yes. We do use it when talking about key skills. There are lots of companies improving numeracy and literacy skills and thats exactly as they sell them. I am excellent at maths (keen darts player), but wanted to improve my grammar so tried doing one of these online courses for free. Brain numbingly boring, and so basic that I couldn't be bothered completing the course.

Ah. I think we just say "good with numbers."

(Darts? I'd put someone's eye out. But that sounds fun.)

As long as 'its the bullseye'.

And I would be satisfied with "didn't maim anyone."
