Numerals

Hi everybody!

I'm always a wreck when it comes down to writing numerals.

How would you write 178,515,200,000
Do I need to put commas?
My variant is One hundred and seventy eight billions, five hundred and fifteen millions, two-hundred thousands
But I’m not sure.

Thanks in advance!

I agree with you, except in the US, we would leave the "s" off the "billion" and the "million."
We'd use the plural in expressions like, "Billions for defense, but not one penny for tribute."
Or, "This government program has wasted millions."

Thank you for your reply. What about thousands? Shall I omit "s"?

Yes. Sorry I missed that! Emotion: embarrassed

I wonder how you write it in numbers. Like 178,515,200,000? Shall I put commas here too?

Looks like I missed that too!

Omitting the commas or putting them in the wrong place doesn't change the value of an expression, but people would most likely curse you for leaving them out.
You sometimes see four digits, and rarely five appearing without a comma.
I have no idea if it's considered ungrammatical.
