Numbers or the numbers?

Hi. Please help. Should we put the definite article "the" before the word "numbers" in the following example sentences? As for a sentence I think we'll not put the definite article, I think we don't have to put "the" before the word "numbers" in the example sentence "If you have numbers 1 and 2, stand up," but I'm not sure about the sentence "If you have numbers 1 to 4, stand up."

1. Place the numbers 1 and 2 in the grid.
2. Place the numbers 1 to 4 in the grid.
