Essay & Composition Writing

Number of words (composition)

How do I count the words of a composition? Do I count commas, question marks, apostrophes... or only real words?

Thanks,

Ana.

No, you count WORDS. Punctuation marks are not words. Some will say a hyphenated pairing counts as only one word.
