Number of runner up places

If there are one winner, 2 runner ups and 4 2nd runners up in a competition, what do we call the 2 places?

For example, in the poster we will write

Champion (1)

Runner up (2 places/ units ?)

2nd runner up (4 places/ units ?)

Thank you.

Is it common to have more than one runner up / second runner up? Is it better to say first prize, seconde prize and third prize? Thank you.
