Nuance, Nuanced

i understand the meaning of the noun, Nuance - subtle differences / variations. Also the verb, Nuance - to give subtle changes to. However can anyone tell me if this use is correct?
"Our club membership is different, It’s more nuanced than just open or exclusive."
Should it actually be "it has more nuances than..."?
Thanks
