Nowadays many people choose to be self-employed rather than to work for a company or organization. Why might this be the case? What could be the disadvantages of being self-employed?

Over the recent years, working for companies or corporations has not been as prefered as running a own business by the majority of people. Some argue that the influences of this tendency are completely positive. I, personally, argue that while this move has some advantages, the obstacles are many.

On the one hand, the option of self-employment is attractive for several reasons. Firstly, being a freelancer can enable one to have more freedom to adjust time effectively. Because of not having to be accountable to anyone, a person may manage their workload in their own flow, which is the most suitable for his or her personal life. Secondly, self-employed people tend to have stronger motivation for a job. To clarify, because freelancers do not work for an organization, they seem to stand a valuable chance of pursuing their own interests and passions. Therefore, they can be given more opportunities to express their ideas and opinions, which may foster their initiative and independence. Through pooling these characters, many can earn more money by themselves.

Despite these aforementioned benefits, some drawbacks of this trend do exist. One of the major disadvantages is that self-employment is no guarantee of a stable income. Working for a company means that people have the assurance of a guaranteed durable paycheck ; in contrast, when they work for themselves this guarantee is missing. As a consequence, one may suffer from considerable financial pressure to pay for life, which not only results in difficult-living conditions but sometimes stress and tension. In other words, an unstable paycheck undeniably leads to a low standard of living for people.

All things considered, the self-employed have to face up with both pros and cons. Although this can assist people in managing time and encourage them to work more dedicatedly, some felt that there is little financial guarantee of self-employment.
