now have been hurting

Jane eats a lot of ice cream because she likes it more than any other food. But now her tooth has been hurting and she has been going to see a dentist.

Is this good? I want to know 'now' and 'has been doing' are permitted to be put together.

I always appreciate your answering.

There's no rule that says you can't have the continuous perfect and now in the same sentence: I have been reading this book for an hour now . I would reword your sentence: But now she has toothache and she has gone to see a dentist. CB
