Novels and non-fiction about making films/TV programmes

Can anyone recommend any novels and non-fiction (biographies, memoirs) on film making or making TV programmes? They can be written from any perspective - actor, director, producer, writer, crew etc - and can be sublime or plain trashy.
Many thanks
Matthew

If your taste extends to light detective fiction, I warmly recommend the Charles Paris books by UK author Simon Brett. Paris is a professional actor and (almost by accident) an amateur sleuth, and each novel in the lengthy series deals with an aspect of UK showbiz: stage, radio, TV, film, voice-over, corporate video and so on. The books are beautifully observed and often wickedly funny, and though admittedly some of the references might not have quite the same impact on the other side of the Atlantic, they should still be highly enjoyable.
