Nouns - Look up a word

Hi. I'm Nhan, from Vietnam. Now I have a trouble when i look up a noun on my dictionary (Longman). When i look up some nouns like hatred, hope...it (Longman dictionary) says that they are uncountable and countable. I know that some common words like hair are uncountable and countable but with the abstract words like hatred, hope above, i don't know when they are countable and when they are uncountable. Can you here help me to know?

Generally, objects as big as, or bigger than, a marble are countable: ball, car, house. Very small objects, emotions, abstract things, etc. are uncountable: sand, grass, happiness.
