Nouns after numbers

Hi everybody, As we know nouns after numbers are plural. For example: three books. But what about this sentence, "Couplet is a two line stanza" here we have two but the word after it is singular.
Could you please explain it to me ?
Thanks in advance.

If you remove the modifier "two line" you can see clearly that "A couplet is a stanza."
