Noun required: Current-like pain

Hi

Some people (especially elderly) develop this problem that when they get up in the morning or after prolonged sittings, their right or left heel of the foot hurts for some time as they take a step. If you asked me to describe the pain, I would say it's something like "current-like" or "a wave of pain" on each step.

Could you please help me with this sentence?

She says that she has developed this ________ like pain in her left heel. As she walks the heel ___________ on each steps.

Thanks,

Tom
