Noun

Hello,

1. Nutun (the name of a girl) put down the phone. She Jumped with joy.

a) Putting down the phone, Nutun jumped with joy.

b) Putting down the phone, she jumped with joy.

Which one is correct? The teacher says that (a) is only correct?

Could anybody explain it?

Thanks.

Sentence b) doesn't tell us who jumped, or as I would say, was jumping with joy.

Having put the phone down / after putting the phone down work better for a) and b).

Teacher is correct about #1, but they sound very choppy as two short sentences.
