Notional or semantic concordance: all and some

Hi. Please help. Which is correct? Or perhaps are both of them incorrect? Thank you in advance.

1) All candidates should bring a pencil/pencils to the test site.
2) Some candidates brought a pencil/pencils to the test site.

Hi. Please tell me if the pronoun "them" is correct here for the antecedent "guest"? Thank you in advance.

He is meeting a guest to transport them to the hotel.
