Could you please tell me if these lines read naturally? Any suggestion is welcome.

Nothing irritates me as much as a wide, plastic smile. It reminds me of my old English Professor Mrs. May, who other than her formal qualifications – all students said – had a Ph. D in the art of frustrating her pupils and rubbing them the wrong way in every possible way. She smiled all the time, and those who didn’t know her well believed that the lady suffered from a constant toothache.

My first encounter with her was in the Central Library. I was looking for the exegeses of Hamlet, when the thin lady, almost to the point of emaciation, blundered about and faced me. Her smile convinced me that we knew each other and…
