If something is far from the truth, it is no where near it. Which means that whatever is being discussed is not the truth. A falsehood. Completely untrue.

A: So I heard you quit your job yesterday.
B: Nothing could be further from the truth (What you just said is NOT true). I'm only taking a paid vacation. I'll be back in three
