Question

Let's say I emailed XXX and told him that the packing was done and he can expect the shipment delivery on ......

XXX replied me briefly, he said, "Noted.".

Is the word "Noted" a well accepted reply in the situation described above among native speakers?

It's terse, but not unusual. Adding 'thanks' would be nice.

. I never realized that it could be an unfriendly reply.Thanks for the explanation and also the suggestion, Clive.

BTW, if my friend told me that he may not be able to join me in any activities in the coming weekend because he will be busy preparing for exam, can I reply with a mere "Noted." with no unfriendly sense to it?

All this while, my friends and I considered "Noted" is the same thing as "Oh, I get it /I understand it now".

Now I've no idea if this sounds OK...

'Noted' also sounds rather formal.

Much more likely in informal situations is OK.
