Hi,
1) How would you describe this notebook? Can I say that it flips open upward or that it’s an upward opening notebook?
2) If a really smelly person walks by, can I use these?
“Someone swooshed past me and left a trail of a bad smell behind.”
“I was trapped in a trail of someone’s smell.”
“The wake of someone’s smell struck me in the face.”
Thank you.
The notebook flips open. The spine is on the horizontal axis. I could smell their odor as they walked by.

1. This is a top, spiral bound notebook.
2. The stench was overwhelming as someone walked by and it lingered awhile after they had passed.
This notebooks flips open at the top.
I couldn't help but notice the stench as [the old man / the shabby-looking woman / ...] passed by.
