Not yet qualified/non-qualified

A lead is a person or business opportunity that is not yet qualified.

From above, I'm curious to know if I restate the sentence as "A lead is a non-qualified person or business opportunity."
Can I use "non-qualified" in place of "not yet qualified" interchangeably here?

My aim here is to ask a question does "non-qualified" also mean as the mentioned person is not yet qualified in the mean time, but they soon will be?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Best,
