Not until

Hello,

a. Not until I got home did I realise my wallet was missing.

b. Not until I had got home did I realise my wallet was missing.


Is sentence "a" right? Isn't it necessary to use Past perfect, since ......had got home, happened first?

I think you can say the following:-

Not till I got home did I realise my wallet was missing

Those are both acceptable.
