Not too ... to..

Hi, I have a question.

She is not too kind to help me.

Can I understand above as below?

She is not kind enough to help me.

Top answer

No. "Not too X to Y" means "If someone were X enough, it would prevent him from doing Y; however, this person is not so X that he will not do Y". In this case it doesn't make sense because being kind would never prevent someone from helping someone else.

2) makes sense. "Running between the tackles" in football is something you would expect to require a large man, because the linemen are enormous. Reggie Bush is saying that even though he's only 6', 200 lbs, he is large
