Hi Amy,

Shouldn't "to buy" in the second sentence be deleted?

The car was not too expensive for him to buy.

The original version sounds to me like a direct translation from another language. However, I am not a native speaker. Do you find the original sentence natural?

Hi Pter,

I would keep 'to buy' for one could replace it with 'to lease' and change the meaning of the sentence .

Hoa ThaiHi Pter,

I would keep 'to buy' for one could replace it with 'to lease' and change the meaning of the sentence .
Thanks Hoa Thai. I have considered this before posting my question. Somehow, I am fine with these:

It is not too expensive to buy the car.
It is not too expensive to lease the house.
It is not too expensive
