Can I write,

(a) The hare promised not to be proud again.

(b) The hare promised he would not proud any longer.

(c) The hare promised not be proud again.

(a) is correct - it expresses the fact using an infinitive clause. (b) will be correct as well if you say: ´...he would not be proud any longer.´
(c) is incorrect.
