Not the stillness/to a life of it

Hi

From a book about meditation:

Yes there are some that can say they do not have a mind that never sleeps, but how true is that. If they never stop thinking then their mind has never actually been still, not the stillness that comes from a daily meditation routine.

--- Does the phrase "not the stillness" is correct? I would say "it is not the stillness..."

So aside from what meditation can not do for you and what it could do for you if you devoted yourself fully to a life of it, what can you get from meditating right away. In other words, what will be your reason for continuing once you start.

--- Is the phrase "to a life of it" correct?
