Not sure about sentence

Pop stars should behave, taking drugs and partying all night is setting a bad example for children.

I'm not sure about the "is" nor the "ing-form". English is my second language and I'm in doubt...

Think of 'Tom is taking drugs' ie Tom is doing 'it'. So 'taking drugs' is an action. The same with 'partying' ie Fred is partying ie Fred is doing 'it'.

Think of 'Tom is taking drugs' ie Tom is doing 'it'. So 'taking drugs' is an action.
The same with 'partying' ie Fred is partying ie Fred is doing 'it'.

Therefore 'it' is setting a bad example etc
or
Doing 'it' all night is setting a bad example etc
