I'm not sure if they will let you return the jacket, since I got/bought it.

Shouldn't it be:

I'm not sure if they would let you return it.

Would it dramatically change the sentence? I'm having a lot of trouble with will/would, can/could, etc..

'Will' is appropriate in a context where the person actually intends to try to return the jacket.
