It was not so complicated that I couldn't understand it.
In the first sentence, the specified result, which is the fact that I couldn't understand it, happend.
In the second sentence, the specified result, which is the fact that I couldn't understand it, didin't happen because that clause indicates the extent of complication.
Right?
