Hi,
May i know if i can say that "Not only I but also Tom is a student."? Because there seems to be a rule about the order of persons. Is that we change the order of the two persons correct or possible?
Thank you very much
panda fold 982 May i know That is not a good question. First "i" is not a person; it is a letter of the alphabet. Next, "may" is asking permission.

Well, it is grammatical, but no native speaker would say
'not only ... but (also) ...' is used chiefly to connect clauses, sometimes phrases, but not pronouns.
Not only are they making more, but they have superior benefits.
Not only did New York beat Atlanta, but Philadelphia lost to Florida.
Not only are the vehicles easier to modify, but they are safer as well.
Not only Tom but I passed the test.
