Not only But also - Is 'only' can be omitted?

I know that only can be omitted in 'Not only But also' phrase.(Ex: He is not only a great man, but an evil.)
But I can't find whether 'only' can be omitted (Ex. He is not a great man, but an evil)

Is only can be omitted? If so, are there any examples?

Thank you.
