Not only ~ but also~ / inversion

Hello, experts!

I came back here to ask you another question as before... I hope you help me with this, again.

This is the sentence I've got...

"Not only do biennales showcase and discuss the nature of our contempory life, but they also differ from the modern world fairs."

I see inversion in the beginnig part of this sentence. And I wonder the sentence before the inversion occurs.

Is it "Biennales not only showcase and discuss...." or "Biennales do not only showcase and discuss..."?

Which one is it? Thank you for reading this.

Looking forward to your kind answer....

They (do) not only show becomes Not only do they show.

The do is optional in the first grammatical pattern, but it is required in the second.
