Hello,
1.You were not only late, but you didn't have a good excuse either.
In the above sentence 'also' has not been used.
Is not possible to use 'also'?
I wonder whether 'not only' ..... 'but' without 'also' possible.
Could anyone explain it?
Thanks.
One of my favorites! You were not only late, but you didn't have a good excuse either. " Not only were you late, you didn't have a good excuse.

"Not only were you late, you didn't have a good excuse." "Either" is implied. "But" is implied. "Also" is implied.
