Not on a mannequin

Can one say

a. She will wear the gown so that our costumers may be able to see it not on a mannequin.

?

The sentence is mine, but I think I heard something very much like it in a TV series. If I am not mistaken the sentence was spoken by a non-native speaker.

The idea is that the costumer will be able to see the dress on a human body, not on a mannequin.
The last part sounds wrong to me. It should be 'see it on a human body and not on a mannequin'. As it stands the sentence sounds incorrect to me.

Am I correct?

Many thanks.
