Not offensive, informal word for gay?

Hello,

First, I'd like to state I'm tolerant of "otherness" and have nothing against homosexuals, it's only I have to find an informal synonym of gay to my translation which is not offensive - please, could you help me?

I was checking a few words the dictionary gives but they (e.g. creampuff) don't in fact seem to have this meaning.

Thank you. Emotion: embarrassed

Gay is probably the best word which is both non-offensive and informal. Anything else is either more formal, more offensive or could change the meaning slightly. I don't know any homosexuals which would take offense to being called gay.
