There are hundreds of them. Well-known appliances, electronics, footwear, apparel and computers-the famous brands-they're what we call name brands. These products are not necessarily successful because companies pour millions of dollars into promoting them--though that certainly doesn't hurt. People spend money on name brand products for several reasons:

How would you interpret the line in bold? The litteral Chinese translation is "These products are very successful not necessarily because companies pourmillions of dollars into promoting them." And I wonder why! Your advice? Thanks.
