Not in the good books of someone

Finally, senior DMK leader T R Baalu is also a contender. Baalu was the shipping minister during the UPA's first term and he happens to be a trusted man of Karunanidhi. He could not be accommodated in UPA II.
However, Baalu is not in the good books of the big brothers M K Stalin and M K Alagiri.

Please explain to me the highlighted parts. Though I guess it means not in good terms with

He isn't likely to get the ministry. MK Stalin and MK Alagiri would not prefer Baalu to any other candidates. Probably, in the eyes of MK Stalin and MK alagiri, Baalu isn't suitable for the job.
