not in so many words

hello,

i have just read something and i am not sure whether i do interpret it correctly.
here is the text. (am i right in thinking that colon can not be applied after 'text')
'did he say he would provide us with accomodation?'
'well, not in so many words, but it is definitely what he meant.'
does it mean the host is loathe to provide them with accomodation but agree on doing so on the grounds of the slings and arrows of the outrageos fortune?
i need an explanation in words of one syllable.
love,

Sorry-- it cannot be done in single-syllable words. Not in so many words = not directly and specifically. There should indeed be a colon after text .

  • Also, I should be capitalized, do interpret should read (have) interpreted , accommodation has two m 's, loathe should read loath , agree on doing should read agrees to do , and the Shakespeare quote is irrelevant.

thanks,

you pulled no punches:)

slings and arrows means you have to accept things sometimes in life you do not like.
why is it not pertinent?
