not friendly vs. unfriendly

Hi,

I wonder if there is any difference in meaning/implication:

1. John is not friendly.
2. John is unfriendly.

I wonder if there is any difference in meaning/implication. Not to my ear.

Neither to my ear.
Basically 'not friendly' = 'unfriendly'.
Same in: responsible (not responsible) = irresponsible,
or- patient (not patient) = impatient,

So I don't see any difference.
