Not for nothing are his initials P.C.

Princess Diana, if you recall, was opposed to landmines, as most noncombatants are. Prince Charles is a fan of the environment and likes to say so publicly. Four years ago, he gave a speech at Oxford University on "Islam and the Environment," in which he expressed his support for both. Not for nothing are his initials P.C.
This is from USAtoday.

What does "not for nothing are his initials P.C. " mean?

I understand P.C. means Prince Charles.

Thanks!

PC can also stand for politically correct. The writer is sarcastically suggesting that this coincidence has real meaning when we think of Prince Charles.

It means that there is a valid reason for those initials.
They have a second meaning, so it makes this interesting (coincidental) sentence:
Prince Charles is politically correct. => P.C. is P.C.
