Essay & Composition Writing

Not everything know we/ Not all men are wise.

In my last post, I asked the question below and got the clear answer:#1&2.

All men are not wise

1 All men are unwise.

2 Not all men are wise.

My new question is..

If you/I don't know everything about something but know quite a lot, how do you say?

Is it like,,, 'Not everything know we/I?' applying #2?

Or is there no way to express it very short but 'I know many but I don't know everything?'

Top answer

(X) Not everything know we/I. (X) I know many but I don't know everything. Those are impossible.

  • (X) Not everything know we/I.

  • Those are impossible.
  • I/We don't know everything.
  • I/We know a lot, but I/we don't know everything.

(X) Not everything know we/I.

(X) I know many but I don't know everything.

Those are impossible.

I/We don't know everything.

I/We know a lot, but I/we don't know everything.

Ah.. it's very interesting to get an answer 'I/We don't know everything.'

I thought it is wrong because it sounds like I/We don't know everything(e.g., speaking of Korea, I don't know anything.)

Ah.. so what I/We don't know everything means is I/We know about something but not all.

And if I say, I/We don't know anything, that means you know nothin

I/We don't know everything means is I/We know about something but not all.

I/We don't know anything, that means we know nothing.

Are they correct?- Yes, correct.

And the reason 'I know many but ...' is impossible is 'many' and 'a lot' are not the same, are they? ('many' in the context sounds like it needs an object? e.g., I know

Ah.. thank you..

Probably the last question..

1. I don't know all the people here, but I know a lot of them.

--> Here, 'them' cannot be omitted, can it? It seems this has the same structure as #2 and #3, but I assume 'them' cannot be omitted, can it?

2. I don't know everything about Formula One, but I know a lot.

1. It probably could be omitted in conversation.

2. Yes.

3. Yes.

I think the question I will ask now would be similar to 'I don't know everything.'

1. There is nothing I can't do

2. There is nothing I can do.

#1 means 'I can do everything', doesn't it?
