Not "dumplings", but then what?

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for the word to describe foods like this:

It seems to me that neither scoop, nor dumpling is specific enough; I would need an expression that refers to ball-shaped courses. Could you help me, please?
Thank you.

They all have individual names depending on the type of dough, the filling (if any), and the method of cooking. There is no general name that I am aware of. Your picture looks like a cream puff.

It looked like a matzo ball to me (which is actually a dumpling of sorts) . . . although I don't know why a matzo ball would be sitting on a plate with crumbs and powdered sugar.

It looks too pale to be something fried.

Can you tell us how it's made?

Hi,

A matzo ball with powdered sugar? It's weird. Emotion: smile
