Normal word order?

Below is the quotation from Mr.Wordy's answer.

To me (British English), "vanish" as a transitive verb is borderline, and is appropriate in only in very casual or jokey usage. I'm not sure how accepted it is in AmE. <

1.

All I know is 'I'm not sure how it is accepted in AmE.' <

2.

Isn't 2 normal word order? and 1 is for emphasis or something?

No, they have two different meanings:

I'm not sure how accepted it is in AmE. = the level of the acceptance (e.g. completely, guardedly, etc.)

I'm not sure how it is accepted in AmE. = the nature of the acceptance (e.g. as slang, standard, etc.)

I made an example below that may be the same case as my question.

I'm worried about the vase I ordered. It may be broken while it is delivered.

They both need a little revision:

3. It depends on how carefully it is handled.

4. It depends on how it is handled carefully.

This pair is not so neatly different, since #4 is not a very natural option, but – yes, #3 considers the level of care while #4 considers the mode of care.
