Nor versus Or

hi,

I'm confused with the usage of nor/or. Can someone explain when to use them?

ex)
It was not my fault, nor his.
I don't like math or physics

I think these sentences are both correct and either cannot be interchangeable with the other (or his/ nor physics), but I can't understand why the second example is Ok. Nor seems more suitable to me.
