Nor or or?

Just please tell me wich one is correct.
1. I never went to school nor learned to write.
2. I never went to school or learned to write.

Which is correct? I believe either is acceptable. Nor must always be used if one is using neither, but in this case, either usage still retains the negative idea.

In BrE that sounds terrible... but I suppose it's ok for someone who "never went to school".

I didn't go to school nor did I learn to write.
I have never been to school nor have I learned to write.
