Sorry, my question was: why is phenomenon listed as "nonstandard" under phenomena? Thanks.

I believe the entry is saying that "phenomena" is a nonstandard form meaning "phenomenon."

Oh. I thought "phenomena" was the "standard" plural form for phenomenon.

You're correct -- but I think the entry you quoted is saying that "phenomena" is sometimes used as a nonstandared form of the singular, in which case its plural (also nonstandard) is "phenomonas."

It took me quite a while to understand it, but with khoff's help I do see now and agree. Don't use "phenomena" to mean the singular "phenomenon." That usage is considered non-standard.

khoff, Crystal-Clear now. Thank you so much.

Me, too. It would have been more helpful had it said

phenomena (singular): nonstandard for phenomenon.
