is using nonsense as a an adjective correct? like in this case: "nonsense excuses". if not, what can i say instead?

Nouns can modify other nouns. You don't to rename 'nonsense' an adjective just because you're using it to modify 'excuses'. 'nonsense excuses' is OK, but there is no adjective there.
