”none the better for”

This is a phrase used in an entrance exam to college.

"I am none the better for taking the medicine."

I want to know if this phrase is still used by native English speakers.

Isn't it an out-of-date expression?

It seems to be. It's also extremely formal and unfamiliar in the UK.
