Nondescript

How do you describe Peter?

Well, he is a nondescript man.

Would you say the above instead of he is just an ordinary man?

I know people talk about nondescript buildings. Would you use it to describe a homosapien?

Sounds a little strange.
Does anyone else care to toss in his/her 2 cents?

It wouldn't be very flattering, Andrei. It's a rather negative word: 'lacking noteworthy characteristics'. More or less 'dull'.

'Ordinary' is also slightly negative.

What you say about Peter behind his back:
'Oh yes, Peter...Rather nondescript, isn't he?'
'Peter? A very ordinary little man.'

What you say to Peter's face:
'That's what I like
