Nobody but me

In Section 116 of his book "Practical English Usage" (3rd Edition), Michael Swan says, "Nobody but she..." (i.e., that the use of subject pronoun is possible before a verb) is correct, but in Section 429.2, he says that it is not correct: "Nobody but me.."

But is a preposition in your example. In English, the subject form of a personal pronoun is incorrect after all prepositions:

–prep.
11. with the exception of; except; save: No one replied but me.
-
Random House Unabridged Webster's Dictionary

Cf. He came with me.
He often thinks about me.

This is quite amazing. I don't mean that Swan's recommendations are amazing. I mean that my agreement with him, even though he's inconsistent in his suggestions, is amazing.

I would say:

Nobody but she remembers what happened.
Nobody but me remembers what happened.

I would not say:

Nobody but her remembers what happened.
Nobody but
