nobility VS gentry

Both mean A class of persons distinguished by high birth or rank.
Is there any difference between them?

In Great Britian and Ireland, "nobility" has a very specific meaning in addition to any generic meaning. It means the group of noble folks, or as www.dictionary.com says: a member of any of the five degrees of the nobility in Great Britain and Ireland (duke, marquis, earl, viscount, and baron).
