I've been racking my brains to understand a line of a poem by the fantastic Harryette Mullen:
"copulation from scratch kisses go down hard no weekday self makes it bleed"
My question: Is "no weekday self" actually "no weekday itself" is enough to make it bleed ? OR is she trying to say that no "self" (that is, no "ego") of the weekday makes it bleed?
I appreciate any feedback on this.
Thanks a lot, Laumont.

I think that 'weekday self' means the boring, quotidian self that we usually exude.
